Switch Network Performance

How well is your AXE/MSS switching system performing ?

AXE SOS offers consultancy services to evaluate your system by performing a detailed switch performance audit, on node or network level. Services can be delivered for all AXE and MGw applications for mobile and wireline networks.

Not familiar with MSS performance measurements ?

The introduction of MGw nodes has brought many new measurements, which can provide invaluable performance information to the operator, when fully utilised. From our experience with MSS performance it is very evident that many networks in service today are not providing the best possible performance information, particularly in mixed vendor networks where measurements need to be verified.

Lack of performance information can be partly due to the O&M staff being unfamiliar with MGw measurements but another possible reason is that the MSS system has been launched with default measurement settings (STS). These settings usually provide sufficient information for most of the main functions, but they do not give the operator full visibility on the performance of all switch functions.

Naming of measurement counters can also change at each new MGw release, and this needs to be updated with current OSS settings.
AXE SOS can optimise your MSS system for best possible measurement results.

How does your switching system compare with other operator networks ?

We can benchmark your system using Ericsson and ITU standard KPI’s. Our switch performance database is continuously being updated with each new service delivery. This information is not only derived from standard STS measurements (as with NetQB) but also from valuable OMS measurements such as Service Quality Statistics (SQS), which can provide the Successful Call Rate (SCR) for the switch and network. This allows us to compare the SCR for each network.

Introduced new nodes or reconfigured your network ?

If you have recently changed out other vendor equipment for AXE/MSS and are unfamiliar with KPI's and general switch performance measurements then we can provide an independent and impartial performance review of the new nodes. We can also assist your O&M staff with the use of AXE/MSS performance measurements.

In a dynamic and growing network the introduction of new nodes or re-parenting of new nodes often occurs without a full and proper performance analysis. New nodes could be under-performing without the operator realising it. AXE SOS can perform a comprehensive check of the node(s) to verify the performance, and implement changes for improvement, if required.

Can your AXE/MSS switching system be improved ?

AXE SOS believes that all switching systems can be improved. However, quantifying the improvements requires accurate and reliable information that may not be so visible to the operator. AXE SOS can offer a switch performance improvement service that is both measurable and verifiable.
We have delivered a number of successful switch optimisation services based on our well established methodology. This methodology is continuously being updated with new measurements and optimisation activities during each new service delivery.

The introduction of MSS has been a big challenge for both Ericsson and operators. Optimising the performance of these MSS networks has therefore become an important activity for operators today. AXE SOS is actively involved with establishing MSS performance measurements for maximum visibility, and without this visibility it would not be possible to make improvements.
